My experience with PC's of the 486 or 586 class are documented here.
A focus of mine is to get current BSD distributions (FreeBSD, NetBSD and OpenBSD) up and running on this kind of machines.
Software projects
On this site you can download some Tcl/Tk-programs which I mainly wrote for my OpenBSD or NetBSD systems. Sometimes I use these programs also under FreeBSD or Slackware-Linux.
